Note

Orig. survey notes: Dwelling & garage, 38x18; owner Hanna, a broker w/Hanna & Jones Mortgage Loans

SHPO Description: This large two-story rectangular house has a side facing gable tile roof with exposed rafter tails under the wide eaves. Primarily Spanish Colonial Revival in style, elements of Monterey Revival are found, particularlymon the recessed balcony located across the west facade of the house. Wood beams, columns and balustrade are part of the decorative features. French doors open onto the balcony. The front entry is recessed with a wide rounded arch. The front wood door is paneled and a decorative Spanish tile boarder extends from the door. Wrought iron bars cover some of the casement windows and fixed windows. (Judy Triem)

SHPO Significance: The house is significant as part of a group of houses built between 1926 and 1929 that have retained their original architectural character. Built for George C. Hannah, a broker, and his wife Catherine in 1928, the house is an excellent example of the Spanish Colonial Revival style and the only one of two on the block to exhibit Montery Colonial Revival influence as well.
