Orig. survey notes: Originally described as 'cottage'
SHPO Description: This structure consists of a two-story cross-plan, clapboard-sided Victorian residence with attached Craftsman-style porch. Original features include a two-story bay on the south (front) facade, carved barge boards, decorative attic vents in the gables and double-hung, wood sash windows with carved aprons. The main entrance is located east of the two-story bay and is placed on a diagonal to the street.
An attached porch with a pitched cover, square concrete pillars and concrete flooring appears to have been added to the front of the house circa 1915-20. The porch's exposed rafter ends, concrete pillars and roof pitch are stylistically incompatible with the Victorian architecture. The porch prevents natural light from entering the first floor windows and obstructs views of the first floor facade. A one-story clapboard sided garage, circa 1915-20 is located at the rear of the lot. A low concrete retaining wall runs around the periphery of the lot at side walk along Figueroa. This house is one of the few remaining two-story Victorian structures in Altadena and is important as an example of that style as built in the area.
